GROOMING

Grooming is such a big part of owning a Goldendoodle. Before buying one you need to be aware of the commitment that comes with their beautiful coats. Regular brushing and grooming will be required and if neglected will cause problems for you and your dog. Goldendoodles have two main coat types; Wavy and Curly and each type has different grooming requirements.

Wavy coats give a dog that typical shaggy hair “doodle look”. This coat requires moderate brushing and regular grooming. It doesn’t get as matted as a curly coat but you still will need to brush every 2-4 weeks depending on length. It will be little to no shedding and will require trips to the groomer for haircuts every couple months.

Curly coats will give a dog more of the poodle look with tighter curls. This coat will be the best for allergies and have the least amount of shedding. However it does require the most maintenance. Every 1-2 weeks brushing will be needed depending on the hair length and you will need to take them to the groomer for a hair cut every couple months.

Please do additional research on the grooming needs before committing to a Doodle. There are many amazing resources online on how to properly care for a Doodle coat.
